I am not finding a way to enter external contacts that will show up in the global address book for exchange/windows 2000.

Can anyone give me some tips on that?

Thanks!

You actually use the “contact” object in AD. When creating the object, establish an email address and enter in the external SMTP address. The Contact will then display in the Address book, and any email sent to that user will forward to the configured external SMTP address.

Here's a Q article that talks about about it.

Good Luck,
Jon

problem is that when I right-click on a contact that I have set up in the ADUC, I go to properties and add the email address it does not show up in the global directory in outlook.

I see what I did wrong...You need to run the ADUC on the Exchange server in order to mail-enable the contact/user/group. On my Primary DC the mail enable functions do not appear when you right click a user or object under users container.

Problem solved...thanks.
