I have an HTML Website that I would like to use as a test bed of sorts in order to understand web design. I also have a small business server 2003 system with IIS 6.
Can someone provide a set of directions or suggestions as to how I can host or load this site in IIS for the sake of training? this site doesn't need to be published to the internet. I'd be fine with working on it from the LAN.

Within IIS console, I've tried to right click, new, site from file. However I'm then asked for an XML file, which I don't have.

I am just firin in the dark here since I havent done this in a bit but I am pretty sure all you need to do in your case is right click on one of the down level options in the left hand window (iis snap in) and create a new site (not from file) go through the wizard which will prompt you for name and which ips you want it to listen on (i think) and then it will ask which directory holds your html/php/etc.. files and then you can browse to the site via opening a browser window and using the localhost/test/etc or by right clicking the files and selecting "Browse".

There are a couple ways to go about it but what I usually did was just place the website in the inetpub folder and then it will be listed under the default web page tree in the IIS console..

This is kind of a shoot from the hip description but there are tons of resources out there which can easily be searched on google.. "iis new site" for example.

Good luck in any case!
