I am in the need to add storage space on my NW4.1 server. It is configured with two 18.1 SCSI drives that are mirroring and full duplexed. I want to add two 18 or 36 GB drives and expand my SYS: to use all available space.

After the hardware is installed can I just add the new space to the sys: using Install. Is there a proven way to accomplish this task???

Thanks for the input.

Well, after reading what you are wanting to do I want to ask you this; WHY DO YOU WANT SUCH A LARGE SYS VOLUME? You would be better off to create a DATA volume instead of a sys. Since the O/S is installed on the current drives, you would have quite the task of backing up the data, putting the new drives in, and then restoring the data and restoring NDS <---- Not the best thing to do and can take quite a while because you have a lot of front end and back end work to accomplish.

My best advice is this: Any user data should reside on a volume other than SYS. I recommend that you add the drives in a RAID 5 format and make it a separate volume altogether and then grant appropriate rights. This will save you hours of work.

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to holler..

Dear all,

I'm a freshmen in Novel.
I have a similar question about adding new harddisk to the existing Novel server. The new harddisk will become an extra data drive or disk space for data storage. How can I do it? Thanks!
