we have had a block of DIDs for a few years, 5700-5999

we use 3 digit dialing to the ext.

Soon we will add 4700-4799. So now it looks like we need to do 4 digit dialing at least for the new extensions, but I am concerned with incoming calls. I do not see anything in my inc-call-treatment trunkgroup 1

so does that mean our carrier is sending 3 digits on the DIDs? I ask as I do not know how the switch knows the ext. is 733 instead of 5733?

I want to make sure calls coming into 4700-4799 will work.

Anything you can do to refresh my brain as it has been many years and several software versions prior when I had multiple banks of DIDS. We are on 13.x on an S8400

Loooks to me like you've got to get your carrier to switch to sending 4 digits and then you'll have to delete the leading 5. You also need to make sure your dialplan analysis table has 4 digit extensions starting with a 4.

I wouldn't want to have some three digit and some four digit. You really want to start planning a dial plan conversion to get those 3 digit extensions up to 4 digit extensions.

Just my humble opinion...

Looks like for sure no matter what the lead fourth digit is you hanve an issue. You use 3 digit dialing and you already have 700 through 999 working in your switch as 3 digit extension from the 5XXX. So now if you have 4XXX or new numbers 700 through 799 it will not work. Only solution I see is change your dialing plan from 3 digit extensions to 4 digit extensions. No matter what your newtork vendor sends it doesn't fit your dial plan.

I did have Qwest confirm they are sending 4 digits, but I only have 3 digit extensions. Since I have nothing in the inc-call-treatment trunkgroup 1, how is the first of the 4 digits getting stripped? where else would that be done?

I am prepared to go to 4 digit dialing that is not a problem..

I did a test and made an ext 5733 and I have a 733. When I call xxx-xxx-5733 it rings the 733 ext even though I made a 5733. This is why I thought they were sending only 3 digits, but they swear they are sending 4.

Post your trunk group...

Does the 2nd page look anything like this?

We have limited Avaya translations support and they popped in and looked and without going into a chargeable ticket, they didnt see anything that shows how 3 digits are working. They seem to think Qwest is sending 3 digits not 4. I did a list trace tac 600 and 601 to see if it would show the digits but it doesnt...

Susan
You can have it all. You just can't have it all at once.

well that was easy! lol thank you all. I saw the Dial 733 but I didnt know if that was happening AFTER some sort of digit absorption. so now I know what they are sending (despite what they SAY they are sending).

SO... now it looks like all I have to do is change everyone to 4 digit extensions both in the switch and audix...

and verify my dialplan is correct for 4 digits for the 47xx and 57xx DIDs, which it looks like it is, correct?:

That 733 string absolutely can be happening after some kind of digit treatment. You stated that Qwest verified four digits. I had a couple of posts keyed up to ask you to go back and verify that with them again and have them provide proof of a trace on a call delivered to your switch. I should've hit SUBMIT on that one a long time ago. ;-)

Now, if you convert all your three digit exts to 4 digits, you'll have to take into account all of the busy indicators and bridged appearances.

In the meantime, you should be able to get them to send the last 4 digits of the DID and you can support a mixed dial plan using the incoming call-handling treatment form.

Well thank you for attending my DID Refresher Course! We will have more of these soon! lol

Seriously, thank you all for your help.

Thank you to Mr. Rockspop and AvayaTeir3 and the rest of you! Rockspop, thank you for the tip on the bridge-appr, I would of forgotten those, and I have a few abrige-appr too.

After all of this, I just got this from Qwest:

Chuck,

I was just about to email you. I called our complex translation group and confirmed that the account system has it listed as 4 but we are really sending 3 digits. I will have to submit a 2nd order to change it to 4 digits. That is correct? You would like 4 digits going forward? Thanks.
