I want to add 256K memory to my Dell desktop. Got all specs from Dell. There are three slots in the desktop. Currently 2 slots are filled with 128K non parity memory. Is there any problem with putting one 256K non parity memory in the remaining slot or do they all have to be 128K?

No, you shouldn't have any problem throwing in 256 Mb more ram. BTW It is MB Megabytes we're talking here, not Kb Kilobytes. Just be sure the 256M memory you get is also non-parity.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply. Of course it's MB - sorry for the slip.

one more thing - its advisable to put the larges chunk of your memory, ie your new 256mb, in slot number 1 therefore take out the 128mb stick already there, replace it with new 256mb then stick the 128mb in slot 3

Thanks for all the info. Interestlingly enough - it was Dell who told me that I had two 128MB memory cards. When I opened up the system to look - guess what! There was only one 256MB card. So now I have two slots free. Memory at was so cheap I bought two 256MB cards. Any advise on installing? (They should arrive in two days - free second day shipping.)

Now you can use 256 MB x 3. Its better for you, no?.
The memory work stable? now you can try Overclock your system.
