Is there a way to add a criteria to a filter in excel? I'm trying to add the conditional formatting information into the filter without having to add another column. So ideally I would like the conditional format conditions to show up in the pull down filter.

Hi,

What version of Excel?

What do you mean by, "... the conditional format conditions ..."?

Please explain CLEARLY, CONCISELY and COMPLETELY.

I have a conditional format that will change the font color on a cell if the above cell is different. (Red for decrease value and blue for increase value). What I'm looking for is when you click on the down arrow of the autofilter it will have something like "Increase", "Decrease" with the rest of the numbers in the column. And if you select "Increase" it will go through and find all the ones in blue font. I don't know if the Excel 2003 that I have will be able to do this.

25 30 55 this is the current number
25 32 57 this is the proposed number
30 63 93
30 61 91

No. Critera in filters are based on VALUES in cells.

Make another column with the value that will reflect the COLOR, criteria.

You have a flaw in your example, I believe

25 30 55
25 32 [blue]57[/blue] <this number is GREATER than the previous
30 63 [blue]93[/blue] <This number is GREATER than the previous
30 61 [red]91[/red] <This number is LESS than the previous

thanks Skip for confirming what I thought about the autofilter. I appreciate your input. No more help needed on this one.
