Adding Cells based on number 3

Hi All,

Is there a way of working out how many cells should be added in a formula based upon the month number.

So for example if the month is 1 then the formula should be =A1

if month is 2 the formula should be =a1+a2

if month is 3 the formula should be =a1+a2+a3

etc etc

i just can't work out how to do this!!
