Adding an area code

How do I add an area code to the switch so that it can be dialed?

You do that in LD 90. You have to know which RLI you want it to go through as well. Most of the time you have one entry for local and one for long distance. If the area code is long distance go to LD 90 and do this:

REQ PRT
CUST 0 (or your customer number)
FEAT NET
TRAN AC1
TYPE NPA (NXX for local)(SPN for toll free,911)
NPA (enter the area code, if it's long distance include a 1, example 1713)

This should print out the routing information for the area code. If this matches the routing you want to apply to the new area code then do this in the same LD:

REQ NEW
CUST 0
FEAT NET
TRAN AC1
TYPE NPA
NPA (Enter new area code, example 1512)
The prompts after this should mimic the prompts you printed out for the example area code previously unless you have specific changes to the DMI or SDRR entries. DMI is digit manipulation where you can insert or strip digits, SDRR allows you to deny or allow digits. SDRR is used to block things like 976.

The ESN data block can be a little frustrating as it can get extremely complex, so if the basic setup doesn't work post again and I will try to help.
