adding an analog line to IPO 500v2

Been trained on IPO 500 about 8 yrs ago by Westcon. Never got the chance to put one in till now. Using manager 10.1,Admin 9.0, went to user and added the line 703. Look at the phone seems to be there. Also put line 703 in service. Got a solid green light & when I push it beeps. No dial tone. What am I missing.

Hi.

Some silly questions, not seeing what your configuration is.

First, what kind of phones are you putting the line on (14xx, 16xx, etc).

Secondly, and this has happened to me, have you verified that the change took. I have had instances where I put the change of a phone in, pressed the "save" icon, and not realized I didn't see the merge window show up. In that instance I had to close manager open it again, make my change and it took.

Thirdly, what you might wish to do is confirm you have dial tone on the line. That happened when I moved offices and the tech's gave me the wrong person's telephone line, that couldn't dial out.
Finally, open SSA, take a look the the extension, and see if the line is actually being selected.

If you want, post your config, and I can take a look at it and see if there is something blatantly obvious.

Do yourself a big favour & dont use line aperance keys!

in 99% of casses if you are configuring a line aperance key on an IP office you are doing it wrong.


A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
 
IPG, I've seen you say this a few times before. What's the main reasoning behind this, i.e. why are Line Appearances so bad? I use Call Appearances on everything I do, but I do have customers with older configurations who have Line Appearances and like it that way. Also, how do you get around having to dial a 9 to get out with Call Appearances? I configure the ?->Dial->. short code on all of the systems, but still have customers who say they have to dial a 9 to get out. Is there another Short Code/etc. that you can program on the system to skip having to dial a 9?

 
insert the 9 in the ars dial string

Ok, Thank for your responses. It was my bad I had it plugged into the wrong port. But I still have an issue with it not ringing in at the receptionist locations. Calling out works fine.
 
look at the incoming call route(s). What destinations are listed?
