I am trying to add a adobe pdf file to my web page where if someone were to click it i will open up adobe acrobat and show the file..iam using dreamweaver mx but it is an older version probably a 2002 or 2003 version..i am trying to do this by linking text to a file in this case an adobe pdf..i have uploaded the adobe file to the same directory as the page that contains the link but it still doesnt work..iam using geocities right now,and when i click that link it doesnt work..what am i doing wrong? heres the site if your interested

i dont see any links for the pdf...

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

I saw the link, it didn't work, but it looks like it should. I've got pdf files on a web site, I just checked and they are still working.

yea the link to the pdf is on the third page you have to wait till the first page loads click the enter here banner then let the second page load and click the enter here banner then you will be on the page with the pdf..for some reason some of the wording changed back to black which is the color of the background..but the link to the pdf is there and visible..so how bout an answer did i do everything right by uploaded the pdf into the same directory as the page it appears on? how did you guys get your pdfs to work?

sorry i didnt have the patience to wait for your loader -- just a suggestion please get rid of it -- but all you do is link to a pdf and it will pull it up -- its like linking to a regular page

<a href="mypdf.pdf">

agree with the loader comment. either give users a "skip" button or get rid all together.

The text is set to the same colour as the bg #000000 your links are showing because they are showing as the default colour. I have checked out geocities hosting and they support pdf's I even uploaded one to a free package just to try it and no problems.

I have noticed that you have
Code:
<td background="CMDezignzSlideshow.pdf">
in your table. Take it out.

addking on to what cheech said .. if you want to put a background on your <td> tag .. you can't put it in .pdf format ... to us it makes sense that you could, but in internet, all backgrounds have to be in a graphics format or color.

also note that some browsers do not recognize the 'background' tag of <td> i know that IE and netscape do *not*. safari does and i'm pretty sure oprah does as well. just something else to keep in mind.

cheers!

current versions of IE and NN do recognize the background tag in td -- ive used them sparringly but usually try to stick it with CSS

ok guys thanks a lot ill work it out when i do ill let you guys know ..thanks again

geocities is free host so with the traffic from here of people checking out the problems probably exceeded the bandwidth or have you been linking to files from another server?

ok guys i have almost got this i think i got the file linked correctly now..but still a problem occures when its loading ..when its loading i get a error box with a question mark in it it says file name does not start with '%pdf-.' its trying to load the pdf does anyone know what this error message means?

I think your problem is you have your link like a web link "<a href=" your pdf file I imagine is located in the same directory as your html file. Change the link to "<a href="CMDezignzSlideshow.pdf">" if the file is in sub directory just put that in front of the file name such as "<a href="assets/CMDezignzSlideshow.pdf">". Let me know what happens.
