Hi All
I have an opt 11c set up in a lab, with sw 25.15 on it.
What was programmed on TN's 3-8 thru 3-9 was OOSSLT on those TN's and I am unable to out OOSSLT on them.
How ever there is a patch I did obtain from Nortel, But I do not know how to upload that patch.
Any assitance would be great.
Thanks in advance.

I think you will have to log into a PDT mode and FTP the file. Check the Nortel website on how to access the PDT mode.

Do you know where I can find PDT on the Nortel Web site.
I have searched and worked with Nortel on this issue and have gotten nowhere. I have also search here on this website, but it seems like no wants you to even touch PDT.

PDT is a very secure issue, you have to know it. No one will ever tell you. Maybe your vendor.
I once asked the same question once on this site and soon after that my log in ID stopped working. (hmm)
Sorry cant help.

nortel will not give you that password on the site either, you'll need to take a short class and pass a test.. their rather pickey

Yeah I don't know why Nortel is so secretive about loading patches on OPT 11c's, but you can with no problem on 51 thru 81 in fact they rather have you do it your self.
I don't know what it would hurt just letting you work on your own equipment.

i more then agree, but it's falls back to the golden rule, they have the gold, they make the rule

In the MPL Library, there is a set of instructions on how to load patches to Option 11 and Option 51-81. They are pretty good, I have used them both, but as the others have said you will need the pdt password for the Option 11.

What does MPL stand for and what book could I find it in.

if their is a way to load patches to an 11, please share it, no one here knows of a way without the pdt password

I have the patch on a pcmcia card Nortel gave me, I just don't know a way to upload it in software or PDT.

looked in the mpl today and the instructions are there to load the patches, but you do need the pdt password.

sorry.

John

OK thank you very much for letting me know, I will have to get on to the Nortel web site. I have access but it is very limited.

There are 2 levels in PDT as I know depending of what password you are using. with the (low) password you can add patches by copying it to the pabx, load/unload patches, activate/deactivate pathes. You must have the (high) password to actually delete the patchfile from the system. If anyone have the PDT password, you can install a patch in the following method after logging into the PDT:

Make sure you are connected with RS232 to TTY 0/PORT 0 and that your procomm or whatever uses Xmodem protocol.

1. PDT> cd /u/patch (confirm that your in the correct folder by typing "pwd")
2. PDT> rx pxxx_x.11c (this uploads the patch_file via rs232)
3. PDT> PLOAD pxxx_x_11c (loads the patch, and you will also get a patch handle)
4. PDT> PINS xx (activates the patch where xx is the patch handle you received in step 3)
5. confirm activating the patch.
DONE.

I never use step 2 as I use a PCMCIA to copy the patch. It's much faster but not possible if you use a modem. Navigating in PDT is much like navigating in Linux CLI or related OS.

I hope this information is allowed to distribute. If nortel recommends to hold back this kind of information, please let me know.

Logging into PDT is on your own risk. You can cause serious damage making mistakes in here. However it's necessary to be able to use because of the patches primarely.

Thank you that was helpful, I do have the patch on a PCMCIA card that Nortel gave me. They just didn't give me any way to log int PDT.

With the new release of SEC 4.0 ,you will be able to load your patch from a zip file.

Will you still have to go thru PDT and Password it load it or will it be more user friendly.
