adding a new pool to ICS- help

Hey all,

I am a newbie to the voice world but am ramping up very quickly due to lack of internal telecom folks. So while my buzz words may be incorrectly applied, I hope you grasp the concept of what I am trying to do.

We have a modular ICS with Applications module and an analog module. With a PRI currently coming into it with only about 5 lines used, I need to create a new 'pool' of phones.

We will be moving a different division to that facility and I will need to add about 12 phones in a different group/pool with the main number being one of the pri numbers. Currently we use the M7310, but will have one 'normal' phone for internal and local calls, dialing 9 to get out.

I have been into the phones and snooped around a good bit, and have gained a fair understaing of configuration as a result. I can currently add new phones with voice mail but beyond that things get very gray, very fast.

I have downloaded some configuration guides for the ICS, but some of the terminology throws me for a loop. Hopefully, someone out there will be able to guide me in the right direction offering a rough overview of how to get there and I should be able to figure out the details.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Jimmy,
So, did your telcom folks get laid off?
Not trying to be crude here, but spend a few bucks to borrow an unemployed telcom person. There are many out there. With the PRI on your system, there are many things to consider.
Oops, that's not the kind of answer I like to give. Just one of those moods I'm in. You are asking a lot of questions that someone needs to be familiar with your system to be able to answer properly. Otherwise, we are guessing while trying to help.

I agree with Marv. You are adding a significant number of phones and working with a fairly complex environment. You should have outside support available on this system, what would happen if you had a system crash? Do you know who you would call? If you are new to programming telcom equipment, I would stick to moving extensions and setting up a new extension or two. Best to have a relationship with someone who can help you in an emergency and this sounds like a project to help develop that relationship. Good luck!

Jimmy,
My reply in the wee hours was a bit crude. I apologize.
I have had my sleep now, so not quite as mody.
This group really tries to help.
Is the new facility in the same building, and what software release do you have?

Thank you Marv for trying to help me with this, and yes the telecom guy got laid off, much to my dismay.

I have called the local telephone co to fix a problem where no one could dial out. Seems that the old phone person had a RAD and may have caused the PRI to become disjoined from the Prime phone. All was well after unplugging the RAD and they fixed the PRI map to the Prime phone.

Then I stumbled on this site trying to figure out how to reset the VM admin password as it had somehow changed.

Now that the history is done, (which I wonder if it indicates a possible backdoor?) answering your questions:
This is a different building they will be moving to- so a new install. As far as the version of SW on that box, I believe it is MICS 4.1 based on 30Ndg04 as the version it tells me.

Thanks again for any assistance-
Jimmy
