Sorry to have to ask but, how do I go about adding a new key to an existing phone. I have always gone in and chg an existing key and have had no problem. However now I have a phone that has had nothing assigned to a key before and I want to assign something to it and can't. When I use chg I receive a SC**** error when I get to the key info. If I try to use New I receive the SC**** when I try to enter the TN. I know the answer is going to be easy but right now I am stumped. Thanks for any help

What key are you trying to change? If you have handsfree and display turned on key 7 and 15 are reserved. What are you trying to add on the key?

ld 11
req:chg
type:2616
tn:0-0-0-0
echg:yes
feat:key x xxx

couple of things can cause that.. if i do a chg type 3904 and enter the tn for a 2616, i get a sch.. if i try to change a key that is pre-defined i get an sch.. best thing is to post the tn or the dnb and the chg up to where it stops.. one of us will spot it

Thanks for the responses. I think we are onto something. The only two keys without anything assigned or keys 07 and 15. HFA is set so that would explain why I can't change Key 07 but it is also DNDD so shouldn't I be albe to use Key 15???I want to setup setup XMWK so we can see when a messge is waiting in the global VM box.

Thanks for everyones help this is a great environment.

dndd is only part of it dndd is dial number name display...if you are not worried about caller id on this phone you can chg the cls cndd dndd cdcd ndd, this will allow you to program the key

also when you are adding the message waiting key it should be cls mwa, key x mwk xxxx...
xxxx=vmail dn

If you are saying that in order to have Caller ID available on the this phone then I can't assign anything to Key 15, then I will have to leave it blank. I will end up blowing away one of his speeddial keys then. I just couldn't figure out why I couldn't assign anything to Key 07 or 15. I had totaly forgotten about Key 07 for HF I don't think I ever knew about caller ID and Key 15. Is this true for the 2008 and 3904 as well? That you must leave a certain key unprogrammed in order to have Caller ID working.

yes...for caller id and handsfree to work key 7 and key 15 must remain blank, and cls must be hfa cnda dnda tdd cdca.
I am sure that the user probably has on out of the remaining 14 keys that he does not use very often.

The xmwk xxxx yyyy (xxxx is VM DN, yyyy is DN of VM box you want to monitor) when there is a message waiting on in the VM box for yyyy you will see a blinking light beside the key on the LCD not the regular message waiting light on the phone. The regular light comes on when there a message waiting in the VM box for Key 00.

Another note about xmwk's --

If you want to associate the LED with extended message waiting mailboxes:

REQ CHG
TYPE 2616
TN L S C U
ECHG YES
ITEM CLS LMPX

Default is LMPN - normal lamp; LMPX will make the LED light for both normal voicemail messages and your extended vm messages in circumstances where you don't have a spare key to light separately...

Is there a way to make the LED light differently i.e. solid and blink for the different mailboxes if setup this way? The call Pilot Voicemail we have makes it easy to light the LED for different VM boxes but the LED is always light the same so you have to guess with VM box has the message waiting and that is why I chose to use the xmxk with a key. Thanks for your help.

Not that I am aware of -- I typically use the xmwk like you are instead; but in a few cases, I didn't have a spare key, so I used the LED for both... it's not the most efficient, but it's an option...
