Hey guys i am currently adding a 2003 EXG Server to an environment that already has a 2000 EXG Server.
I know about running the Forestprep and the Domainprep and all and i have done that. My question is this.. Since i am adding this new server to the domain will the incoming mail come to a users inbox on BOTH EXG Servers if they are listed on both?
Also i would like to make one single name that resolves to both EXG Servers(like a bridgehead) for example. The environment is a hospital and we have about 500 machines. Basically everyone had been set up on a mail server called exg2000 that was located at our business office. The new mail server is called exg2003. Both of these servers will be co-existing but i wanna move everyone at the hospital to the mail server 2003 which is located at the hospital and leave the business office employees on the mail server(exg2000) which is located there.Of course it would be a ton of work to have to go to all the users at the hospital and change the name of their exchange server in outlook. How can i avoid this? What are my options?? Is there a script or a tool i can run to change everyones Exchange server settings? Help !!
Thanks in advance !

If you are adding the XC2003 server to the XC2000 admin site you should be able to move accounts back and forth between them using ADUC quite easily.
No need to have separate accounts on each server.

When you move the account to the other server make sure user is out of Outlook. When they go back in the client should pick up on the change and start working with the new server automatically.

Hey thanks alot for the insight man !!!
I really appreciate it !

Hey actually i have one more question for you. OWA is running on the 2000 EXG Server. Whenever i move someone off of that IS store and into the 2003 EXG IS they wont be able to access their email through OWA(Correct??)
Anyway I would rather switch my OWA to be broadcasted from the 2003 EXG Server. How can i do that and make sure both people on both servers can access their mail through OWA

Just change the firewall to point to the Ex2k3 box. Exchange 2003 it backwards complient so shouldn't be any problems. If you have a SSL cert, you may have to get a new one though. Depends on if you are keeping the FQDN the same.

Cheers
