I have a XP workstation that i can't add to my domain. I check all the IP setting and DNS. It propmts me for the admin account and password but once i put the information it, it comes back with invalid network path? I trie to start the netlogon services manually but it will not start.

Any ideas without reloading the OS?

Maybe it cant locate the DC of the domain. Can you ping the DC? Try a set logonserver from the command prompt and see what that brings. Also do an nslookup to see what dns you are actually hitting if any but network path not found usually reminds me of a gateway or some sort of a resolution type issue. Double check your ip settings.

This is almost always related to a DNS problem. Double check that the NIC on the PC only lists the IP for an INTERNAL DNS server and not an ISP DNS server.

Clear the DNS Cache by executing the command ipconfig /flushdns

Turn on NetBIOS over TCP/IP and make sure that if you have a WINS server configured that it is active too. lastly check the HOSTS file and make sure there are no stray entries in there that could be causing a conflict.

I hope you find this post helpful.

the bad things is this is just a two computer domain and i add the other with no problem. I tried what you have guys sent and still nothing. I'm thinking my network services may be corrupt. Dang, i hate to reinstall my OS. I will try to do a repair or something first.

Check if you have a corrupt IP stack first. Install IPX/SPX and uncheck the box next to IP. Reboot. Remove IP. Reboot. Reinstall IP.
