As we all know, making a viable working EXE in FPW2.6 is a cumbersome task.
I am trying to automate/streamline the process some. In order to do so I need to be able to either pass the EXE name and ICO name as variables to the ADDICON.APP, or I need to be able to decompile and modify it so that I can pass these variable.

So, can variables be passed to it?
If not, can any of you out there who have ReFox, or some other decompiler, provide me with the source code to ADDICON.APP

Thanks in advance.

I think you're asking someone to break the law. As far as I know, addicon.app was distributed as an 'as is' product by Microsoft and was intended to be used in its current form.

You would probably be better off creating a keyboard macro to automate it.

Wow, I never thought modifying a program I currenlty have a lincence for would be illegal. How is what I propose any different than the hacks that FP programers have made to fix FP bugs? For example the hack in which a person embeds thier own ICO into the ESL file. Why would me hacking the ADDICON.APP to make it accept variables be any different?

In order to play things safe, I retract my request for the ADDICON.APP source code.

But if anyone knows how to pass variables please let me know.

Dave,
Can you explain the macro idea you suggested? How can I place that into my code?

You have a license to use it, not to reverse engineer it.

Again, I'm not sure that it would be illegal, but I d believe it is quite possibly illegal to decompile applications written and distributed in the package.

As for the macro, I was talking about a keyboard macro that you would 'record' and run from the command window, not one to run from code.
For instance, record a macro using Ctrl+Spacebar which would populate the 'ADDICON' dialog with the executable name and the icon name. Then you could run it using the Ctrl+Spacebar key combination.

It would certainly be a violation of the Refox license.
