Added w2k pro w/s to Nov 5 & program locks w/s

Added a P4 2.4G Win Pro Service Pack 3 computer with Novell client 4.83 sp1 to Netware 5 server. We are using a Dos based program on server and old 98 work stations work good, but this one freezes when we enter the program. Some of the times we can enter the program and it will freeze at random in the program. Does damage to the data files when it freezes and we have to ctrl Alt Del and stop the application in the task manager. There are no error messages.

Application needed files & buffers so added to config.nt and config.sys. What else do we do to make the W2k Pro work?

We have some old DOS programs that will not work on W2K. They either hog the cpu or the memory. I did get some to work buy adding a dll some guy wrote that keeps the program from polling the keyboard all the time.
Start then app. with task manager already running and look at the cpu and memory usage.
Maybe changing the memory settings in the properties of the program may help.

Believe it or not, some machines these days are TOO fast - look like this is the case here.
OUt of interest, run NWADMN32 on this machine and see if you get an error in JRE.EXE......if you do, your machine is too fast for poor old NetWare 5.1

(I can swap you for an old 486 if you like...) :-D

I think we have a memory type problem as this DOS program has to run in the lower 512k of memory. As we keep testing, find that the program locks on Wk2 machine when large files are being used. Used another Wk2 w/s running a different program on the Novell Server at the same time and it did not lock down, only the wk2 with the DOS program locked down.

Also went to NWADMN32 and that works fine. Every thing else appears to work correctly. Any other ideas? Appreciate help! Thanks!
