We have a small network with a single AD Win2000 Server which is the PDC and about 35 workstations (mixed Win2000 Pro and WinXP Pro). The server also has the primary data storage for the network. We're starting to run into some performance issues, and I'm looking at adding a second server which would act as the data storage server, with the existing server being used exclusively as the PDC. I've seen some indications that if the new server has Server 2003 loaded it won't work properly with a PDC running Win2000 Server. I suppose the ideal situation is to upgrade the existing server to Server 2003, but we're a non-profit with some budget constraints that might make that impossible. Any ideas on the best way to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A W2K3 member server will function just fine in a W2K domain.

A windows 2003 member server will not affect your w2k domain.

My current network setwork is proof of this..............and we have about 1500 computers and 25 branch offices !!

I have the setup your talking about in a clients network, the PDC is win2000 and there is a member 2003 server and no issues

Just curious, but why do people keep adding to this thread when the question has already been answered?
