We have a CS1000E rls 6.0. All phones are IP Sets.

Can someone help me understand the difference between ADD and TDD (Auto/Tandem Digit Display)?

We have noticed that with ADD set, inbound calls will not show callerid on secondary lines. When TDD is set, inbound callerid works on primary and secondary lines.

TDD is the new standard you should use, unless the phone has so many lines, you cannot keep track of what line is displaying what call. For that many lines, you use the legacy CLS ADD.

TDD was developed about 12 years ago, and the system has roots much farther back than that. Before TDD, the classy choice was ADD. Then someone got the idea that it was important to see who was calling your second line before you answered, and that is why TDD was developed. Make use of it.
