Hello everybody,

I'm very new to MS Access and i'm trying to create my own knowledge base.

subject: combo box/table
what i have:I have combobox and the list currently in the combo box is: "house inv", "cd collection", "movie collection" etc.

tables, 3 tables: house_table, cd_table, movie_table
what i like to do is have for example "house inv" associated with the table house_table. insted of listing the actual tables in the combobox i like to have the descriptive name point to the table. so when i select cd collection its actually pointing to cd_table.

any help u can give me would be greatly appreciated
Thanks everyone
Robin

You manually entered these items into the combo box list, yes?

Any way, select the box in design view, select properties, and under the All tab, you will see column count.

If you change that to two, then every other item in the list is the second column, so first would be cd tables, second would be your description.

Maks sure to add a size to the second field also in properties.

Hi Blorf,

Thanks for the reply back.. i was hoping to just show the description rather then the name of the actual table with the desc.

still like to just have 1 col in the combo box..is this not possible?

Of course.

Use the same method I just suggested, but on the column widths, use 0";1"

That way, even though the user is selecting the first field, all he sees is the second field, which is your discription field.

Good Luck.
