Add Spacing to my code

I'm using dreamweaver MX. My partner used a newer version of Dreamweaver. When i edit one of his files, my dreamweaver add extra spaces between each line of code. I have to delete the blank lines to get the PHP to work right.

I've gone into EDIT \ Preference \ Code Format \ and everything looks good.

indent box is checked. it's using spaces not tabs
line break: cr lw (windows)

any advice?

You mean it adds extra lines between EACH line? Or in what situations does it occur?

And do all the lines now have new numbers

i.e. the blank lines have a number of their own?

This seems really strange and nothing I have seen or heard of despite using different versions of DW on different machines.

the spaces have numbers. my partner has to go in and delete the extra lines so the php works

sure its not extra Enter key along with the size of the view? check your code/format and other prefs. Edit->Pref..
weird....
