Add/Remove Programs Link Broken

in control panel on W2K Advanced Server running E2K. Double click & nothing happens suggesting conflict. Tried reinstalling SP2 & stopping most services to see if memory conflict. Saw nothing on MS sites, except how to run from command line, which still doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Look to see that there is a file appwix.cpl is the \%systemroot%\System32
If it is try double clicking on the file. If it starts the add remove software wizard then you may have a problem with your control panel. If it doesn't than I would restore that file from the W2K CD or from SP2 if it is in there.

Thanks Drack. Program was not there so we copied it over from another server & gave same permissions (must it be extracted to work?). We tried from safe mode & same behavior. Also everytime we doubleclick the program it starts a new mshta.exe process in task manager. Also noticed folders within Explorer not visible (blank). Perhaps took a virus hit, but box clean now. Any more ideas? Thanks, Fred
