i cannot delete napster from 'add/remove programmes' because some idiot deleted the whole thing without uninstalling it. is there another way to remove it from the list (and ive tried pressing the remove button, but it says 'the following file does not exist....'
Please help its been there for about a year now!

All that needs to be done is to reinstall Napster and then remove it the correct way.

That's usually the best solution, Sapient2003, but given that it's Napster I would bet it's unlikely tethersend will be able to find an installable copy of it.

Check out MSKB Q247501 for instructions on this.

The registry entry for the add/remove entry can be found here:
HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/uninstall Delete the dword 'displayname........'.
Deleting the appropriate entry will remove the add/remove entry. The only problem is orphaned files may still remain, as it seems napster was improperly deleted.
If possible, I would first try to install a copy of the napster program, which should overwrite existing files and re-create those missing, it can then be correctly uninstalled. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

Look for the program tweakui, a google search will bring it up. Will do the same thing hotfusion is talking about, w/o going into your registry.

tethersend,

Actually you would delete the Napster version whatever key from the registry.
