I realize I should have used the control panel add/remove to remove programs I no longer wanted....but instead I either just deleted via explore or dragged to recycle. I have about 10 programs that show in the add/remove list when accessing via control panel that are not on my hard drive. I also cannot do an add/remove because I have deleted them. How do I remove the non-existant program from the add/remove list?? Thanks for any help.

Start,Run and type in regedit,
Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Select what you want to remove and press delete.

If all else fails, reinstall the programs, then remove them by going to Add/remove Programs..this should solve the problem.

Thanks to all. The "run" as well as Tweak both worked fine. The programs that seemed to still be there but were not were ones I had downloaded from the net and could not re-install and uninstall again..but thanks Najoba

Back again with not the very same problem, but one related. I thought rather than a new post.....ask on my old one.

I downloade Tweak and was able to remove the programs listed in add/remove that really were not there...BUT while I did not notice it at the time.....add/remove no longer exists in the control panel, only in Tweak and when attempting to remove a program one gets a message something like " this will NOT uninstall the program only remove it from the list" a little searching allowed me to find the uninstall feature and actually uninstall the program. How does one get the add/remove feature back into the control panel??

Thanks Again.

TweakUI does not uninstall programs, it only removes the program's entry in the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
To uninstall programs you must use Control Panel. [Thanks in advance|Hope I helped you]

Thanks...yes I understand that Tweak removes/removed from the list in add/remove.....but after downloading Tweak and running it from control panel I noticed that add/remove no longer exists in the control panel. How do I get it back ??

ebow:

In C:\Windows there is a file called Control.ini
Open this in notepad and look for the header [don't load]
If you see a line under that like this 'Appwiz.cpl=no'
remove that line and choose File>Save
then restart your computer.

Beentheredonethat That did the trick THANK YOU

You can also do that from tweakui - one of tabs gives list of control panel options - ticked ones appear - suspect you inadvertently unticked the appwiz one.
