When trying to add a new record using the command
Docmd.GoToREcord , , acNewRec (within a VB module) I am
getting the error:

Error No: 2499: Decription: You can't use the GoToREcord
action or method on an object in Design View.

Can't seem to figure out whats causing this problem

Thanks

Don't know why, but after trying later its not a problem anymore, worrying. Don't like mysteries.

I'm having this problem as well when opening a form from another form. Any ideas would be appreciated (my problem hasn't magically disappeared yet).

Have you tried Repairing & Compacting, and ensuring that any code is Compiled?

I don't know why, but it may relate to filtering the records. When I open and create a new record it pops me into filter by form and then gives the error message re creating a new record in design view. (And I did try compact/repair - didn't work.) thanks!

kcn: Did you try Compiling the code? Open any form and go to the VB editor (or open a Module if you have any), click 'Debug' on the menu, and then 'Compile [nameOfYourMdb]'.

Sounds like corruption of some sort.

Hi Zor,

You may only goto the new record if the form is capable of adding new records. Check this is the case in properties. The recordsource of the form also determains whether records can be added too.
