Add new column

I am trying to add new query columns to the list available in great plains. I can not do a smart list with the specific info I need, even though the data has been entered in the program, since the columns I want to sort it by are not available in the list. In the "all available" list. Any idea how those columns get created in the program? Thank you.

The columns are hard coded; I haven't seen where you can add them since in most cases it would require joining to other tables.

If you haven't looked into microsoft's reporting services you should. It allows you to run a report off the intranet downloading natively to excel for extracting data from any groups of tables.

You can use products like Accountable's AnyView Creator and eOne's Smartlist Builder to create your own smartlists with additional columns.

Smartlist builder would work for your situation. You can create a SQL statement, selecting all the columns you need from whatever tables they come from and then insert the SQL statement into the Smartlist builder. That way you get all the columns you want in the order you need them in a handy Smartlist.

Thanks everyone. We purchased Smartlist builder last week. Now we are trying to figure out how to use it. It does provide the option to create any query you want.
