Generally, you don't have to do much beside set the carrier address on the jumpers, (located on the lower right hand corner of the backplane), attach the lan buss cable, and move the lan terminator to the C carrier.

When the system starts, you should see any cards located in the new slots.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)

MCC cabinet: adding carrier is hardware only. The P1 / J1 plug that connects from the cabinet wiring harness has pin assignments for the carrier address for the position in the cabinet. Pin 6 in the plug has a ground that shorts to the wires in the plug to identify each carrier. You only have to plug P1 and J1 together.

**J1 for C-Carrier shorts pins---NONE
**J1 for B-Carrier shorts pins---1-6 (6 is GRD FROM the individual carrier)
**J1 for A-Carrier (J1 PLUG FOR A-CARRIER IS NOT USED FOR THIS FUNCTION)
**J1 for D-Carrier shorts pins---2-6 (6 is GRD FROM the individual carrier)
**J1 for E-Carrier shorts pins---1-2-6 (6 is GRD FROM the individual carrier)

Prologics and SCC have address options for the carriers.
