We're slowly migrating our network from NDS to AD. We're currently testing a system config where XP is joined to Active Directory. We still use Novell Client for primary authentication and sync the passwords with AD. All is working well but now our network printer searches are taking forever in Add-A-Printer browsing over network. We have test users choose Network printer, then Connect To This Printer and click NEXT to browse. The search screen takes upwards of 2 minutes to show results. We still use NDPS but the XP boxes default to Microsoft Windows Network. Anyone know of a way to default the search list to NDPS first? That may help

TIA
-Greg

Open Network Connections, Advanced, and change the Providor and binding order.

Also, on your test machine make this registry edit:

1. Open up regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace.
3. Find a key named {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}.
4. Right click on it and delete it.
5. Restart

Thanks! The Provider and binding order did the trick

AS far as the reg tweak, I've read that deleting the key improves access speed to network shares. Is this what you understand as well? If that's the case then maybe I should try it as well since we've had reports of slow access speeds to our Netware shares from WInXP clients. thanks
