add a printer wizard doesnt start

Hi, i search everywhere on like and MS's site but can figure out how to fix this.

my default printer died so i deleted the printer from the printers folder and deleted the network port.

now when i click on add a printer the wizard does not come up.
it works for fax but not for a new printer.

anyone have any ideas!?

if you go in "printer & fax", are you able launching
File | Server properties to
1) add a port
2) add a driver

Does, after this, wizard start ?

What does happen if in Start run you enter

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /?

and in particular

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /il

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /il - nothing happens.

when i go to file server properties and try adding a drive it just hangs.

i also replace the printui.dll which didnt work.

Paublo,
Check your services. Is Print Spooler started? If not, start it and try again. If it is, restart the service and try again.
Grasping at straws, but this seems a resonable course of action.

i just used the installation software for my new network printer. even though the print wizard never came up i could add a port under file/server the loaded the printer software and used the port i created.

why the wizard is not coming up, i have no idea but at least i can print now.
