I have a customer with a very large Cluster manageged by Enterprise Manager so their user list on Enterprise Mang is the sum of all the 3300's in the cluster.
I am going to install a new 3300 with all it's new users to be added to the cluster and to Enterprise Mang user list, is the correct method on Enterprise Manager once the new 3300 is setup with all the cluster info to do a full propogate from the new 3300 to Enterprise mang then a synchronise with all the 3300's in the cluster.
I'm just a bit worried about doing the full propogate from the new 3300 in case it wipes the existing user list on Enterprise Mang.

Should be no problem, the full propogate will only delete the TelDir on the target node, the rest are left alone. I'm working on a large (330+ nodes so far) deployment and use this all the time to load the existing TelDir (27,000+ entries) into new nodes.

If you're really nervous about it, you can run a synchronization instead, but keep in mind this will also collect any existing entries in the new node. The only reason I prefer to use propogate instead of synch is that for a TelDir the size I'm dealing with, it takes 4 hours instead of 8.

What software releases are EM/Ops and the 3300's at?

Thanks Lundah, but i think i didn't explain things too well i got my collects and propogates mixed up. The new 3300 will have all the new user's on it and these need to be added to the main Ent Mang list, so i was going to do a full collect from the new 3300 to Ent Mang then a syncronise with all the 3300.

I would add new node to the cluster and do full propagate of the directory to it. Then register new users through EM, so all changes will be distributed through the system.
I had really hard time when added new node with all the users pre-configured.

If you already have users programmed in the new node, you should run a synchronization instead of messing around with collects or propogates.

The syncrhonization will collect the entries in the new node first, and place them in a system-generated distribution list. Then it will propogate the entries for the PDG to the new node.

Once this is done, add the new node to the existing distribution list, and use the Telephone Directory Editor to manually change Distribution List membership of the newly collected entries.

Once the update of the Distribution List membership is done, check your pending changes queues using Telephone Directory Utilities to ensure the collected entries are queued up to be propogated to the existing nodes in the cluster.

One more. Make sure you have ARS digits programmed so every extension in the directory can be reached from every node. No exclusions.

Thanks for all the advice everyone i feel a bit more comfortable with the pending job now.

I would add just 1 more recommendation to the list before moving forward..... Do an export of your teldir to a .csv file just as an extra precaution before adding the new node.
