Since installing Service Pack 1 on XP Pro I have been plagued by log-on errors related to my SCSI contoller Adpatec Ultra SCSI Host Adpu 160m.

At log on there is a delay of about 16 seconds caused and the event log shows that the OS had a problem reported as:

"Controller Error on Device Scsi adpu160m1"
in the Event Log [Sytem]
There is nothing in the MS knowledge base on this subject.

After the boot completes my two SCSI Devices are OK - Yamaha CRW2100S and HP C1537A 4mm dat drive. They perform with out problems so there is not a hardware problem.
The latest device digitally signed drivers are in place for the host and and the devices.

I have seen reports of other people having this problem but no solutions and the comments that it is probably an XP bug which Microsoft have not yet acknowledged.

I did notice that when I installed SP1 there was a message to efect that Windows could not install the TAPE CONTROLLER and since I do not have one this points to a bug in the OS [the error can be reproduced by running the Add New hardware Wizard which finds a tape Cotroller which it of coursecannot install].

Does anyone have any experience of this problem?

Unfortunately all the items are rpeorts of the problem without indications of how to fix it.
