Adaptec AVA-1502 ISA SCSI Adapter Windows XP Installation:
NOTE: Sticker on main chip on card showed AVA-1502I, possibly for ISA model, unknown to me.
1. Installed adapter without inserting into computer.
2. Used 'Add Hardware' in Control Pannel.
3. Click, Yes, I have already connected the hardware. Next >
4. Scroll down to find 'Add a new hardware device' Next >
5. Choose 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list(Advanced)' Next >
6. Choose 'SCSI and RAID controllers' from the 'Common hardware types:' listbox. Next >
7. Choose 'Adaptec' from Manufacturer listbox, then choose Adaptec AHA-151X/AHA-152X ...' from the Model listbox.Next >
8. Will Install the driver, if it asks to restart, decline, and shutdown computer.
9. Check computer for avalable IRQs, will only work with IRQs 9 - 12. Find the empty IRQ on computer, then set the jumper on the card, since the card is not PnP. To set umper, set I9 or I10 or I11 ... I stands for IRQ and the number whichever you set it to. The ALT jumper needs to be set for which I/O Range card will be using. The Default Setting is without a Jumper for I/O Range 0340 - 035F
Jumper on is for I/O Range
10. Install adapter into free ISA slot.
11. Turn on computer.
12. Check to make sure Card has installed, should give the popup message bottom right. If not, check to make sure the IRQ setting you made on the card matches a free IRQ in the computer. Also if that is not working, try to reverse jumper setting for ALT on card to change the I/O Range.
13. If installed, then proceed to install scsi device, remembering to turn off computer while handling the hardware.
