I have a Gateway server that has a built in SCSI Controller (blad)i just got a Adaptec 29160 SCSI card. I can't boot with it, the instalation cd says "No root drive". I downloaded the drivers (ad160) for this controller but i can only install them if the system is working,
How can i boot with this controller card to do fresh install???
Any help will we apreciated.
Thank you for your help.

I believe when you attempt install at this point, when you get the initial

boot:

from the installation CD, you need to have the driver pkg loaded on a floppy....(it will prompt you to enter it later, don't put it in the drive just yet)

at the boot: <prompt>

you will need to define something like

ahslink

when prompted to enter the driver package name, you will need something like alad325 or something...

check around on Adaptec's site, you should find what you need there.

hope that helps
