Hi Everyone,
my client has a network running a set of public addresses, and we want to convert to the 10.x.x.x range. So I figured that since all of the servers have twin NICs, we would simply give a 10.x.x.x address to all of tem, and change the client PCs (about 150 of them)slowly from the old to the new addessses. PROBLEM!!!! They can ping each other, they and ping by DNS as well, but are unable to get a master browser, because the AD master will only speak on the original 65.102.x.x network, and won't pass any requests to the 10.x.x.x card? What to do????

HELP!
Thanks.

Are you using static addresses? Is it a routed network?

1. are you using this address space behind a router with NAT or are all machines available to the internet?

2. the nic's with the 10.x.x.x address should be used by the dc's for DNS and the workstations for DNS. The first DC you created must be the first DNS entry for every machine in the domain. each subnet must use the a dns server address on its own subnet. This also means you have to use DNS forewarders to the internet.

3. you may have to add your second nic (10.x.x.x) to your dns binding (done in the DNS manager).

This would be easier if you used DHCP. You can set the DNS servers, gateway, dns domain name in the DHCP settings and only have to check one box on each machine.
