Hi all

I have a Win2K active directory domain with child domains at other sites. The problem I have is that on my root domain I have 2 DCs (on same LAN) and when I add, remove or modify an object such as a user on one DC the changes take approx 5mins for it to update on the second DC.
Usually on a lan using the same subnet, I've found it is pretty much instant.
Both DCs have DNS server installed - AD intergrated - and point to themselves as primary in the nic properties.

Any advice... Thanx

You can go into Active Directory sites and services and manually replicate if you need it faster than 5 minutes. Go to Sites > Defualt First Site Name > Servers > expand each server > click on NTDS settings, then in the right pane right-click on each DC and select Replicate Now.

You'll need to do this for each DC listed under AD Sites & Services.

Thanks for the responses.

The only reason I guess I wanted the instant updates is that if I add a user on one DC then want to give that user permission to a share or something on the other DC tehn I just have to wait the five minutes.

No biggy - I just have to move a little slower I guess :)
On other networks that I manage I can update an AD object and then open the AD Users & Computers mmc on the other DC and the object has been updated.

Thanks again
