My SYS Admin has somehow set AD policy that restricts the Native windows XP OS from burning to a CD. And he does not know where he did it. It starts as usual but when the pop up says "you have files waiting to be written to CD" and you hit "Write these files to CD" it starts the wizard, lets you set a name of the CD but the next steps says that "there is no disc in the CD. Please insert a writable CD into drive D:\"

Now.....If I take out of the domain and refresh the GPpolicy so there is none and follow the same steps it burns to that same Disc no problem.

So where in AD did this guy accidentally set this?

There is a setting in the local group policy and probably in AD for a 2003 domain, that removes cd burning features. It is under User Configuration > Admin templates > Windows Explorer. I'm not sure if this is a setting available in a 2003 domain as we have a 2K domain with some XP pro workstations. Hope this helps.

That is an option to set in 2003. 2003 has a ton more policys you can set.

I am not sure where it is but i do remeber passing through it duing one of my 2003 classes

Thanks. We checked there and it is set to "Not Configured"
So it must be somewhere else also? I wonder if i set it if it will override what ever else is doing it?
