Does anyone know of any administration tools for Active directory that work on Windows XP Pro. When I try to install Adminpak.msi from the the W2000 Server CD a message tells me that it is not compatible with XP.

When i first installed Win XP Pro i came across the same problem. After a bit of studying and looking around for an answer, i eventually found the Release Notes on the Win XP Pro CD-Rom. On there is says that the Administration Tools for Win2k Server is incompatible with WinXP (which you already know) and if you want to remotely adminstrator the server they recommend you use Remote Connections to connect to the Servers Terminal Services.
It also says that the next version of Windows Server (they referred to as Windows Server 2002) will contain a compatible version of the administration tools.

Normally i dont Microsoft, but this is one thing they have done that really annoys me, and for this reason is why i havent upgraded to WinXP Pro for my workstation at work.
But if anyone knows how to get the Win2k Server Administration Tools installed on Win2k Pro, i would be very interested in knowing

Thanks, nice to know I'm not going mad. There is a resource kit on the MS site but the link was broken and I wondered if it had ever worked. The answer may be to revert back to 2000! Funny that MS on the Technet roadshows kept spouting on about additional Group Pol features that could be set by creating the group pol from an XP workstation without mentioning that there is no tool to actually implement any of these

BigFern,
Thanks for that. This will make my life so much easier!
As this is Beta3 do you know of any bugs before I get going?

Well the adminpak for XP answered on question. I have been searching for the XP RIPREP tool so I can custom images. Anyone know where this is? It took a while just to find something that said the 2000 one wouldn't work. There is a later XP SYSPREP here:

If anyone wants that.
