I have already updated my AD to support R2 of 2003 and have one 2003 AD server running but it is hte DC of a child domain. I have 2 new servers for our primary location which have R2 and will become the new DCs for this office. I have one remote office with a single 2000 DC. There is a member server in that office that is 2003. Since the AD is already updated is there anything else I will need to do to make this existing 2003 server the new DC for this office? Is there going to be any differences since this server is not R2? I have read through most posts on upgrading DCs but they mostly refer to 2000 to 2003 upgrades, not 2003 to 2003R2 upgrades.

Thanks

Assuming there was no issues when ADPREP was run from the 2nd R2 CD on the root domain, you should be ok.

Nope no issues with that, I have heard that the 2003 AD and 2000 domain controlers are a bad idea and wanted to update the DCs. Currently we are not having any issues but I don't want to sit on this and hope nothing happens in the future.
