Hi,
We require to be able to print our reports from the viewer, and not the browser. The DHTML viewer that can be used is great for viewing the report but is not so good at printing as you can only use the browser print function, which doesn't give you any options.
So we have started using the Activex viewer which has a print button with all the standard options, but we have noticed that numeric and date fields are raised in the viewer and print approximately 1mm higher than a text field on the same line. As we don't get this problem in the DHTML viewer we assume it is an Activex problem.
We are using Enterprise v8 and crystal developer v 8.5
Has anyone come across this problem before?

Regards

I have solved the problem.
I upgraded IE to version 6 and service pack 1.
There was also an activex hotfix on
which was posted on the 12th Feb.
The combination of the two fixed the problem

I have a similiar problem I was hoping one of your may be able to answer.When I print from the viewer, although I set the report to print landscape, it prints portrait. Which cuts off most of the report. I had to go into the printer set up and change it there. But DO NOT want users to do that. Why is the viewer changing the selection?

Which viewer are you using?
It could be possible that you are using the DHTML viewer,
which uses the browsers print option, which sends the print to the printer in the last format that was sent.

How can I verify whiech viewer I am using?

That seems to be the case, sending the report to the printer in the last format option. ugh.

To verify which viewer you are using, you can check the files called alerts.csp, available.csp and history.csp located in the \program files\seagate software\web\content\enterprise\eportfolio\en directory
Search for the string "var user_vwr" whcih should appear twice in the script.
It should have a value after if ranging from 0 to 5.
This tells you which viewer you are using
0 = Activex viewer
1 = DHTML viewer
2 = HTML viewer
3 = Java Viewer
4 = Java plug in viewer
5 = Navigator plug in viewer
This is only relevant if you are using the guest account in the e-portfoliosystem.
For more info go to and search for article id c2009267

Hope this helps
James

James-Thanks. Looks like the company is using the DHTML viewer. Took me awhile to figure it out. Didn't think that part would be SOOOO difficult.

Well, it seems that after viewing the report, everyone has been exporting to PDF. I should say, everyone EXCEPT me! Just left me out of the loop on that one...isn't the first time.
