Hi,

Whille accessing a crystal enterprise report via URL from a client browser, the ActiveX viewer installation prompt pops up 4 times. After 'Yes' to the fouth time, the report displays. Anybody had this scenario...any hints/links?

First, I had installed the 'CE10' in 'C:'. The ActiveX prompt popped up only once. Later I uninstalled 'CE10' from 'C:' and installed in 'D:'. There was an error accessing the 'url report'. The error was 'Could not find C:\PF\CD\E10\win32_x86'.

Though it was installed in D:, it was searching in C:. So copied the win32_x86 folder under the respective folder in C:.

After this, the report displays but after 4 prompts of Activex installation prompt.

Anybody have any idea what to do to make the prompt pop only one time?

Thanks

ACK! Sounds like you have a residual registry entry or 3 ;)

Might do a search for "C:\PF\CD\E10\win32_x86'" in the registry.

This may result in some more chasing around of registry keys as well.

Thank you synapsevampire. As you suggested, searched for 'the directory' in the registry. 'the directory' did show up but I don't catch up much from there.

Thank you syanapsevampire for taking me to the registry. I modified the 'C:' to 'D:' and the error message 'WCA startup failure' did not show up and the CMC showed up, when I click 'CMC' from Adminlaunchpad.

As far as the 'ActiveX installation prompt repeating', installing the 'Crystal Service Pack 1' seems to be the cause. When I reinstalled, the prompt does not repeat. But when applied the Service Pack, prompt repeats. Now I reinstalled, and made sure that I didn't install the service pack. No prompt repetition.

I am giving you a star for eliminating one of the errors, I used to face sometimes.

That does sound buggy, I have CE 9 here with the latest SP and no Active-X repeats.

Perhaps there's a hotfix, if not, try reporting it.

Someone may come along with CE 10 and the latest SP that can confirm this behavior.
