Activex download over an intranet

Hi,

My website uses the Citrix Metaframe ActiveX client.

But on some PCs(WIN2K, WIN NT4, 98, or 95), the activeX control won't download.

1) The security for the internet and local intranet zones concerning ActiveX and Plugins are all set to "Activate"
2) On w2K machines in networks oragnized in workgroups, the users are all Power users.

For some very strange reasons, on some PCs the download is effective and on others it's not. There is even a case where a machine formatted and reinstalled worked before and no more after that.

I wonder if it has to do with domains and security ?

Is there any extra other parameters that should be set up to allow ActiceX download.

Thanks

Could it be that the machines it formerly worked on had a PC version of the Citrix stuff installed using a conventional setup package?

What I'm thinking here is that run-time licenses for the ActiveX control were installed earlier for those boxes, and not the rest. This would explain why a clean OS install resulted in loss of function for you.

Maybe all you need is an LPK file referenced by the License Manager object on your web page?

Are you using a Citrix-supplied HTML page, or one that you've modified or tried to create from scratch? Maybe you zapped the License Manager object or left it out.

Just a thought.

Hi,

Thanks fot your answer.

1) Citrix stuff has never been used previously in our company. When it fails, it is when trying for the very first time to download it from our intranet (apart from the one that had to be reinstalled).
2) The download can work or not on PCs
- located in the same plant, even department
- having the same OS/IE versions or not
3) The website is accessed from different plants
it seems that I have more problems with networks in domains but not only.
4) The HTML page was designed by a sub-contractor but anyway, the object/codebase tag is used exactly the way it should be with a link to the cab file with a version No.
=> if there was anything wrong with the code it would not work at all, would it ?

To sum it up, two PCs with the same OS/IE versions in the same room with the security rights setup to allow ActiveX download, can in one case work and in the case not.

I am not aware of the LPK issue, do you know any link explaining this simply or could you tell me how it goes ?

Thanks
