Activesync running, but screen turned off ?

Does anyone have an application that turns the screen off even when activesync is active ?

They idea is to have the device up and running all the time to sync emails and be connected to the IM server. Whenever an email or an IM message arrives the device should only notify the user by playing a sound - but the screen should be turned off automatically (like it's already doing after x seconds no activity) but only turned on by an user interaction.

Does anybody know such a tool ?

I use screenoff from dmdsoftware to turn the screen off while playing MP3's. Should work while syncing.
