That's a common problem that the latest patch has seemed to address very well:
In the original version the pageserver would eventually hang and you couldn't even restart it, requiring a reboot.
Architecture plays a role here as well, but I'd guess that you have a basic install and that the patch will resolve this (make sure that you restart the server also).
