Hi all,

every day, after backup job the task remains Active and disconnecting from media.
Always is pending in File.CAT from the own server.

Anybody can point me in the correct way.
Thanks.

Version: 9.0 Build 2050,
OS:W2k SP4 DC.

Problem merging in the cat (as in catalog) file, or the cat files are just really big and take a long time to merge in.

Could be a corrupt cat file.

With no jobs running the temp directory should be empty.

If there are any tmp files delete them.
If there are any cat files run mergecat.exe to merge them in.

Once the temp directory is empty after the next backup has finished check to see if it is empty. If not then make sure the merge has finished.

Check for updates.
Check the time the DB Prune job runs.
If it runs during this time change it.
It is changed via the ARCserve Server Admin, Config, DB tab.

Ok, I have just done it.
But yesterday I have had another problem and the backups hasn't done it.

The problem was, (error 3821), unable to find media, but isn't true, the media are the correct and inserted.
are there any patches to solve it?
I have never applied any.

Any help will be appreciated.
Rgds.

Maybe its a corrupt DB...

Try initialize database... this will clean your DB. (you have to merge tapes afterwards if you wanna restore something)

Its done in server admin ....

And check the things david say too

Hi,

Is the machine being backed up a Web Server?

enable debugging on the job engine.. when then error occurs again.. check the job log to find out if the backup fails when trying to backup the catalog.wci folder...

if this is true.. please exclude this folder from the job..

Hope this helps
