Good morning...
Im having a bit of a issue here. I am migrating from Exch5.5 which sits on 2KServer to Exch2K3 on Server2K3.
I have installed the active directory connector and established a connection between the Exchange2K3 and Exchange 5.5. The Exch5.5 directory and AD can talk to one and other. The new 2K3 Exchange Box is working internally but when trying to send mail from the outside to the new server it does not recive mail. I dont want to take the Exchange 5.5 server off line and I dont want to migrate the entire Organization in one shot. I would like both the servers to run while I migrate the users slowly... I am assuming that this is possible...any Help would be appreachited.
Thanks,
MEAB

are you in mixed mode? are some mailboxes sitting on the new server? is your intersite settings correct?

Hi,

I'd update your mx record (if the 2k3 box has a diff external IP) so that all mail gets delivered to it. Else update your f/w NAT so mail gets delivered straight to your 2003 box.

Set up the 'forward unresolved mail to' option in the SMTP protocol section in Exchange Service Administrator (ESE). Enter the ip address or netbios name of your 5.5 server.

Ensure you have configured your 2k3 box to accept mail from all external domains required by BOTH 5.5 and 2k3 boxes. - Default Recipient policy -.

Junk the 5.5 connector and use the migration wizard or exmerge.

As you migrate users across to the 2k3 box you will need to ensure that you set up their correct email addresses and all aliases.

Just what I would do, though I am sure that there are others whom would have a diff opinion!

Cheers and goodluck.
