Hello!
This is the scenario and my problem:

I installed all Cognos8 components on Linux server. I need to configure Active Directory (via LDAP) for authentication.
From Cognos Configuration I createda new LDAP namespace with these properties:

Namespace ID: LDAP_USER
Host and Port: <ip_address>:389
Base Distinguished Name: dc=xx,dc=yy,dc=zz
Bind user DN and password: <user and password>

Others are default setting.

Test for LDAP namespace works successfully, but when I try to logon (in Cognos Connection) it returns invalid credentials error.

Do you have any suggestions for my problem?
Do I must configure other parameters?

It's very urgent for me, you help me, please!

Thanks in advance,
Massimiliano

Test probaably only checks that it can connect to LDAP server. You say that you are trying to "configure Active Directory (via LDAP)" The namespace type should be Active Directory.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching

plevey, it is not necessary to configure it as active directory. you can absolutely (and in some cases have to- depending on the kind of problems you are running into) configure cognos reportnet/8 with an ldap namespace.

i believe that the bind user needs read and traverse permissions. if you were to install an ldap browser on your server, are you able to see all the users you want to have log in? (connect using the same base dn, user you are using in cog config). if you are not able to then you will have to grant the bind user appropriate permissions.

in addition to my previous post, if your cognos server and ad server are not on the same domain, you will have to configure the namespace as ldap and you cannot configure it as AD.
