Active Directory Restore

Question? If I have a DC that fails on me for some reason or another, is the my best option for retoring the DC is to rebuild it then dcpromo it? I know I'd need to "seize" any master roles that were running on it.

Why would I ever need to restore system state?

If you need to do a authoritative restore you have to have a backup of the system state. If you have two dcs and you delete a group or user from a dc and need it back, you can do an authoritative restore from backup.
