We are currently running reportnet portal with NT authentication. Some of our users do not want to log in to Reportnet Portal. Can I automatic login with NT4 or do I have to go to Active Directory before I can avoid the extra login screen.

If your web server is configured to set the REMOTE_USER variable, then single sign on will be possible with the NTLM provider. For instance, make sure that ONLY the 'Integrated Windows Authentication' option is selected on the security tab for the virtual directory in IIS.

I am using Windows 2003 IIS 6. and reportnet with NT Authentication. However I am trying to avoid the initial login screen .

Thanks

Right click on the virtual directory in IIS and go to the directory security tab. Make sure that JUST 'Integrated Windows Authentication' is selected. This will set the REMOTE_USER variable and allow for seamless sign on.

Hi Flex,
I have made the required changes in Cognos Configuration to have Active Directory as the authentication source for ReportNet. But, when I open Cognos Connection:
a) I am prompted to enter the password
b) It fails to authenticate.

I have set the host and port properties and also set the binding credentials.

Can you please let me know where am I going wrong?

Thanks,
