I have a new server running Windows 2003. This server is to act as our dept intranet server. My company has a DC which all of the staff are logging into, therefore users and groups policy has already been identified.

How I can allow only my dept people to access my intranet using the users and groups policy created at the DC?

I hope I didn't confuse anyone.

Thanks & Regards,
Celine

If I understand what you are trying to do properly, edit the properties of the web site - go to the Directory Security Tab and remove anonymous access. Assuring that "integrated windows authentication" is checked, simply lock down your NTFS permissions on the folder structure of the web site to allow access to only those groups who you would like to grant access to.

Hope this helps.

Hi Intruder

Thanks for the reply

Yes I have already set that in place. What I want is to allow only 1 of the dept to login based on the accounts and groups created in the account domain and not this new server.

If you set your NTFS permissions to allow only the (group you want from the domain, ie: domain\AccessGroup) to access the file structure, I believe your goal will be accomplished.

is this a separate domain or a stand-alone server that houses the Intranet?
