active directory & dns

Hi, i'm going to be setting up a test environment so i can get to grips with active directory. Im not going to be connected to the internet and i was only going to have one PDC with active directory on. How would i go about configuring the dns

I will advise you to configure DNS before promoting your server to a PDC, other wise windows will autoconfigure DNS in a not ideal way.

Hi,

If you are setting up a test environment then you should configure the DNS cause while ADS installation it will ask you for DNS server creation it is recomended. If you say yes over there it will automatically create DNS for you.
Probabally this will create only "forward lookup zone"
But while users logging in to Doamin this will give you the problems for that you have to manually create "reverse lookup zone" . After creating reverse lookup zone the users can loginto domain.
